Fear That Comes From the Outer World
Studies prove that when we come into this world, we have an innate fear of loud noises and falling… This begins to slow down around 5 months, as we begin to understand facial expressions and differentiate negative to positive emotions…
So, when does individual fear truly set in that holds us back?
We are taught young that when we are curious, discovering new places, climbing trees, we must be careful.
The words “careful” are built into our vocabulary long before, “be smart” is…
In time, hesitation is built into our instincts and to a certain extent if we cross the metaphorical line from evaluating the situation the same way we would observe our emotions, we will cross further into,
“This is off limits”.
We simplify what we really mean (typically as adults we lack the patience to break down what we mean and why) instead blurt out ” be careful” as opposed to “be diligent and smart” “trust yourself”…
As we go to form habits (which set in around nine according to studies) we take on more weight and responsibilities yet come from an era that slowly begin to form us away from creativity and expect us to work as a unit within a school system.
Subconsciously we are groomed into understanding there are rules we do not cross but we are not taught to think outside the box, even if we do and choose to go to school for it… We then are falling into student loans just to return to our original mind and unlearn the rigid way of thinking around us… Do not get me wrong, this is not to disregard education, but consciously understand, to think outside the box is not taught but given space to be present with. Imagine a world that welcomed creativity and new perspectives… What if we honored the one who climbed to the top of the tree to describe the view and see beyond their heights, those who wanted to see what lies within the coding, the one who instead of walking through the long line to be fed information, abandons everything and seeks the path least walked.
To grow and keep the childlike mindset is a gift, not a past life sent to be buried.
We forget it is harder to unlearn than to learn the steps it takes to climb down safely when the curiosity first strikes.
Our pasts, present and future slowly burn if we allow media and fed knowledge as opposed to seeking what is beyond handed to us, if we seek change then we must model it.
How do we contribute to a future society that no longer holds the chains that the “system” binds us to.
What if we fed our children the words to use their minds that got them there, it is not within our restraints that that we learn but to commit to sure footedness, our fear will lead us to fall sooner than we can catch ourselves; To further understand our minds is to contribute to others inspiration in the smallest details and that our voices could strike for anyone around.
How do we expect to water imagination when we don’t know how to strike our own?
We are the soil in which our future grows. We are not a field waiting to be watered, we are the forest that supplies oxygen into our lungs and we hunger for the land our families sold to live a life that is peaceful;
Our anxieties/insecurities are not a part of us, they were a side effect built in by the world around us swaying our perception.
We are human and have the capability to grow and change, fearing nothing except our need for short lived pleasure to feel safe in one place. When truly, it is our creative minds that help us to take those leaps of faith that aren’t so careful.
